On Monday night . . . at the furthest possible place . . .we beat Plymouth 2-0 to become champions of the Championship and win the league. We will be presented with the trophy on Saturday after our final Championship home game (hopefully we will not have one for years and years to come) against Ipswich Town.

Goals from Andy Carroll and Wayne Routledge secured the win for the Toon who were dominant throughout the game. This condemned Plymouth to relegation. But did not stop them playing “We are the champions” from us! Along with “Blaydon Races” and “Local Hero”. The Toon Army invaded the pitch to celebrate!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
